What it involves
Geotechnical drilling is the field investigation stage every foundation design, environmental assessment or construction QA program starts from: subsurface soil and rock samples pulled and logged so engineers know exactly what's below a site before design begins. Probegeo runs Landcruiser-mounted rigs across Melbourne, regional Victoria and the Greater Brisbane area / South East Queensland, using solid auger, wash boring and NQ/HQ coring methods matched to your ground conditions and access constraints.
Applications
- Site characterization & foundations
- Environmental assessments
- Construction QA/QC
- Groundwater investigations
What you receive
- Sealed soil & rock samples
- Drilling parameter logs
- Lithology & strata logs
Method & standard
Solid auger, wash boring, NQ & HQ coring on Landcruiser-mounted rigs. Carried out to Field Investigation by Probegeo's MIEAust-certified engineers.

Common questions
How deep can your drilling rigs go?
Depth depends on ground conditions and rig access, but our track- and vehicle-mounted rigs routinely reach the depths required for standard residential, commercial and infrastructure foundation investigations. We confirm expected depth against your project brief before mobilising.
Can you drill on a tight residential block?
Yes — we run smaller, manoeuvrable rigs for restricted-access residential sites in addition to our standard truck-mounted equipment for larger commercial and infrastructure jobs.
What do I get at the end of a drilling program?
Sealed soil and rock samples for lab testing, drilling parameter logs, and lithology/strata logs — everything your design engineer needs, delivered per our standard turnaround.
